Agency.Turkish-backed rebels were attacked by suicide bomber just outside the Syrian town of al-Bab on Friday, killling 42 people just hours after they hailed its capture from Islamic State group.
The suicide bomber targeted a checkpoint manned by Free Syrian rebels. The bomber blew up a vehicle packed with explosives and destroyed twin command posts and also seriously wounded a large number of fighters.
On Thursday, Turkish-backed rebels drove off ISIL from Al-Bab, the group’s last significant stronghold in northwest Syria,alongwith two smaller neighbouring towns of Qabasin and al-Bezah after weeks of street fighting.
